Books in Homes is delighted to announce the winner of the 2024 Mainfreight Best Book Giving Assembly Competition as Liddiard Road Primary School in Taralgon, Victoria. Liddiard Road Primary School is the fifth winner of the competition, which was launched in 2019. (The Competition was not held in 2020 due to the onset of Covid 19.)

Twenty-three Mainfreight-sponsored schools were automatic entrants into the competition, which recognised the best effort for organising live or virtual Book Giving Assemblies over three terms during 2024. Mainfreight representatives, as well as Books in Homes Role Models awarded points across multiple criteria. The team at Liddiard Road Primary School were presented with a perpetual trophy and a smaller trophy in recognition of their excellent achievement.

Liddiard Road Primary School Principal Peter Haberl says:

Mainfreight have been a wonderful sponsor for our school as part of the Books in Homes initiative. We have built a real connection with Mainfreight, thanks mostly to the coordination of this program by our Assistant Principal, Tracey Maguire. She has worked tirelessly to build a relationship that has seen our children benefit immensely with the provision of free books multiple times each year. The look on our children’s faces when they are the recipients of those books has been nothing short of amazing and we are very thankful for the opportunity to develop literacy across our school and community.
