Laughter, friendly rivalry and a shared commitment to helping children access books were all part of the mix when the Rotary Club of Turramurra held its annual Trivia Fundraising Night on Tuesday 18 August 2026.

Now in its fifth year, the event raises funds to support the Books in Homes program at Moree East Public School. This year’s Trivia Night attracted 110 registrations, bringing together members from eight Rotary clubs, along with friends and family, and raised an impressive $6,100.

The evening featured plenty of good-natured competition, including trivia, a silent auction, raffle, caption competition and a lively game of “Sit down if…”. Local businesses and Rotary Club members generously donated prizes, including accommodation, paintings, resin art, baby blankets, champagne, food and fashion vouchers and a tour of Parliament House, with a box of beautiful new children’s books contributed by Books in Homes, which was also eagerly snapped up during the evening.

At the heart of the initiative is Project Chair Pam Pritchard, whose connection to Moree reaches back to her childhood. Pam’s parents taught at the Aboriginal School situated on the Aboriginal Station, five kilometres outside Moree, where her family also lived for a year. As a child, Pam witnessed first-hand the discrimination and severe poverty experienced by the community—memories that have stayed with her throughout her life. Today, Moree East Public School has an 87 per cent First Nations student population, making Pam’s commitment to supporting its students deeply personal.

In regard to the Trivia Night, Pam said,

“I was overwhelmed and touched by the support of, not only my club, but so many other Rotary Clubs, community members and local businesses.”

The funds raised have achieved something very tangible—the $6,100 needed to provide the Books in Homes program to Moree East Public School throughout 2027.
