School Description:Riverview State School is situated on the east side of Ipswich, about 30 minutes from Brisbane. Our motto is ‘caring, sharing and working together’ – every day our staff work with our Riverview Roos to build relationships and foster belonging. We encourage our students to see themselves as readers, no matter what part of their literacy journey they are at. If you can make meaning from a text, then you are a reader! We know that literacy foundations are the keys students will use to improve their lives and break generational cycles. Our students are offered reading homework every night, and receive rewards for reaching reading milestones. They are also offered library borrowing weekly with their class, or daily if they choose to come in their own time.
Principal’s Statement:At our school, we are committed to ensuring every child has the opportunity to become a confident, enthusiastic reader. We are seeking Books in Homes sponsorship because many of our students do not have ready access to books in their homes, limiting their ability to practise reading, develop a love of literature, and build early literacy foundations essential for long‑term success. A significant number of our learners enter school with limited exposure to print, reduced vocabulary, and minimal reading routines. For these children, the immediate needs include access to high‑quality, engaging books they can keep, opportunities to build reading stamina, and support to establish shared reading experiences with their families. Providing books directly to students is one of the most impactful ways to strengthen early literacy, especially for families who face financial or social barriers to regular book ownership. Books in Homes would have a profound impact on our community. By placing books directly into children’s hands, we can foster a culture of reading, strengthen home–school connections, and ensure every child—regardless of background—has the resources to develop a lifelong love of reading. Families benefit from increased confidence in supporting learning at home, and students gain pride and ownership over their personal book collections.
Annual Sponsorship Cost:$24,918.96 (ex GST) per annum across three terms for the standard three book program.
Additional Comments:Two sponsors could support the school by paying $12,459.48 (ex GST) each.
